Hello! I'm Duck. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I do, and what I can learn from the world around me. I'm a [land surveyor](https://www.alifewithoutlimits.com.au/) by trade, and I spend a fair bit of my spare time doing amateur theatre, Scouting, and volunteering with my SES unit. I realised that I had accidentally set myself up with a unique combination of pursuits, one that put me in contact with a massive cross-section of different people. As I spent more time looking into the communication, and miscommunication, that I saw in each sphere of my life, I began to see parallels - after all, "people are the same everywhere you go". I ended up completing my bachelor's thesis on [[Communication in Surveying.pdf|communication in surveying]], and found that people I knew, both inside and outside the industry, were genuinely interested in reading this stuff. And I knew I had many more thoughts that never made the final cut into that paper. Communication naturally extends into topics like leadership, management, training and learning, but these were too tangential to the core of my paper. So I collected these ideas and concepts I had drawn together, in my own attempts to understand the world around me, and decided to begin publishing them online. I hope something here might help you to make sense of your world, too.
